"Take Up Space" lovingly captures the history of Oakland through photographs and interviews, centering on the tensions of neighborhood change from a family-oriented place to a predominantly student-oriented one. Throughout the film, the narrator adds in her own personal experiences with the urban spaces she inhabits now, and reflects on the buildings and architecture that represents the neighborhood's past.
